Sticks & stones may break my bones, but OPI polish colors will never offend me

I'll admit it. I am a sucker for nail polishes. My favorite part of getting a mani/pedi is deciding on which color I'm going to wear. Over the years, I have managed to build quite a collection of nail polishes of all sorts of colors. Anytime I am in the store, it's impossible for me to not stop and look at a nail polish display. A girl can never have too many nail polishes, can she?

On a recent splurge at Sephora, I treated myself to a few new nail polishes. Big shocker, I know. I love the Sephora by OPI color selection. This OPI collection is exclusive to Sephora so you wont find these colors anywhere else. The Sephora by OPI polishes are still the same long-lasting, chip resistant OPI formula that doesn't include harmful ingredients like DBP, toluene or formaldehyde. The OPI nail polishes at Sephora include over 54 shades with characteristically clever names for each color. Who can really resist fun colors with names like Leaf Him At The Alter, I Need Space, Never Enough Shoes or Mr. Right Now?

In addition to being available individually, the Sephora by OPI polishes are also featured in special, limited edition collections. Havana Nights features four different shades inspired by the glamour of Havana and the desire to wear vivid colors during the summer months. Then there's the Glee collection which is a 6-piece polish set inspired by the characters featured on the FOX TV show, Glee. Urban Ballerina is the brand new special, limited collection 4-piece set that's inspired by the eclectic style of a urban ballerina, from tutus and leg warmers to skyscrapers.

For my latest mani/pedi, I chose the Sephora by OPI shade, Iris I Was Thinner. The shade is described as being an opaque medium iris purple. Purple has always been my favorite color. I love all shades of purple, but when it comes to my nails, I can be a bit particular. I'm not much of a glitter girl, whether its fine or chunky. I tend to prefer the opaque colors over the metallics for the office. Iris I Was Thinner is the prefect shade of purple for me because it's not too light and not too dark. It's a fun color that doesn't stand out in an obnoxious way.

The only thing that is obnoxious about this color is when someone complains about how the name (Irish I Was Thinner) offends them. Where's the sense of humor people? Lighten up! Any true OPI fan loves the quirky names just as much as they love the flashy colors. Life's too short to get upset about the name of a nail polish color.

Offending people aside, OPI must be on to something because they have been the world leader in professional nail care for the past thirty years. None of their products are subject to animal testing. They are also one of the few, if not the only nail lacquer company that includes the batch number, instructions and ingredients on all of the products individually.

  1. I love this color! It's so cute and perfect for spring.

I agree with you too. Their stance on animal testing, ingredients, etc should matter a lot more than the ridiculous names. Personally, they almost always make me laugh.

  2. I don't know what I like better-the fun colors or the funny names. The quirky names are half of OPI's charm. I think people just need to lighten up and not take life so seriously. I mean, after all it is only a nail polish color.

  3. I typically love the names of OPI's polishes, but ultimately the actual color of the polish is more important than the name because that is what people will be seeing.

    1. But its fun when both the name is funny and the color is pretty. ;)
